Talk to the authors
We look forward to hearing from you

"I hate my job" . . . "I wish I could escape" . . . "I'm stuck here"

As co-authors we heard people say these things about their work and career. For months the statements seemingly came out of nowhere - while standing in line at a movie theater, lunching with a coworker, or presenting at a conference, people would express dissatisfaction with their job, their company, and their career as if to both complain and cry for help. This dissatisfaction was heightened by their feeling of being chained to the company for personal and financial reasons.

As co-authors we view this wide spread work and career dissatisfaction as one of the tragedies of our time. Nobody wins as people are robbed of the happiness and fulfillment that they seek, and employers are left with a less engaged, less productive, and less adaptive company. Often people feel the only way out is to leave their company. Often this is done at a high personal cost to themselves and family, and the issues that they were trying to escape re-emerge in their new company. It's as if you can't run and you can't hide.

Does working in an organization have to be general drudgery? Do you have to give up yourself and even what you love to "get ahead"? Most people think they do, and actively make trade-offs between the demands of work and doing what they love as if they were mutually exclusive. "Make it Work" is our statement to the world that this tradeoff is hogwash!

Far from being separate, being your self and doing what you love will be the source of your career success. And, you can do what you love and be successful in your current organization.

In "Make it Work" we get beyond the platitudes and provide a practical user guide for transforming your career from the inside out. If you're looking for a book to simply make you feel good, don't read this book. "Make it Work" is for those who are ready to actually transform their career . . .

Are you ready?

We sincerely hope so.

Regards,
Joe & Bill
